Marketing is an important field of business administration. All companies, independent enterprises, and marketers sell their products or services in order to make a profit. During the interaction between suppliers and customers, marketing plays a big role. A well-prepared marketing strategy can strongly appeal to customers and make them open their wallets. Learning the unique characteristics of marketing provides students with important skills. Only marketers who have clear insights and appealing strategies can survive the arduous business climate.

                  To prepare students to become great marketers, the School of Business Administration at Ajou University has created a marketing group called the Revolutionary People of Marketing (RPM).

 

-Revolution

                  RPM was established by Professor Hwang Ui-rok and his students. The purpose of the group was to inspire students to become professional business marketers by learning marketing theories. The group’s vision is worldwide and future oriented, and its whole curriculum is planned and executed according to this vision. All of the group’s efforts clearly support its goal to revolutionize marketing.

 

-People

                  According to RPM’s goals and procedures, it seems that its major concern is marketing. However, people, not marketing, are actually most important. There is no doubt that RPM’s achievements are evaluated by its contribution to marketing, but the group maintains that the people who participate in and plan the marketing strategies are more important. The group clearly suggests that the value of one RPM member is far greater than the marketing results.

                  RPM values every single member, and in return it expects each member’s sincere contribution. This is because the group believes rigid rules can help members develop as strong marketers. RPM gives members three models: responsibility, leadership, and a marketer’s way of thinking. Responsibility is the most important because it is the basis that helps RPM to function properly. RPM is a very progressive group. Relationships among members are important, but studying and planning marketing strategy are also very important. Leadership and a marketer’s way of thinking are related to real experience. These models are very helpful in situations faced by real marketers.

                  RPM may seem to be a rigid and serious group, but it is also very fun and offers many invaluable experiences. RPM has many members, and they are divided into teams during the board meetings. All the members gather within seminar and simultaneously hold small meetings with their own team. Separating members into teams gives them a more dynamic experience and more individuality. Many opportunities are possible, such as Membership Training(MT), trips, and meeting senior RPM members. Both the study of marketing and having memorable experiences can be achieved by participating in RPM.

 

-Marketing

                  The field of marketing requires innumerable skills, and every marketer requires creativeness and accurate insight. How does RPM meet this challenge? Its curriculum provides an answer. During a semester, members gather for a seminar every Thursday, and each team is assigned a project. These projects help teams to think deeply and experience what real marketers do. After several weeks, the groups come onto the stage and share what they have learned during seminar. Also, as mentioned above, members plan to attend MT, which inspires companionship. Finally, senior RPM members who are working as actual marketers regularly visit the school to share their experience.

 

                  Through all of these efforts, RPM is taking a step forward to create proficient marketers. Many people worry about their future and easily give up on their dreams. Deeply reconsidering one’s situation and planning for the future is not enough. Actions must be taken to achieve one’s plans, and RPM is a good example of a way to do this. It challenges members with various marketing situations that always bear fruit. The group welcomes anyone who is interested in marketing and loves being challenged to his or her limit, so go and join RPM for a fulfilling future.
