Territorial disputes might arise between various nations and for any number of reasons and forms. In sixty to seventy countries, the unresolved territorial disputes are happening in a various forms, such as diplomatic disputes and bloody conflict. During the sudden regime change in Ukraine, Russia dispatched an army in the name of protecting the native residents of the Crimean Peninsula. In March 2014, after a vote by Crimean inhabitants, the Crimean Peninsula was incorporated into Russia. However, Ukraine—as well as some major international players, including America and Germany—disagreed with the annexation of the Crimean Peninsula and discredited Russia’s actions throughout the international community. The Cold War with Russia as the center comes out. In 2012, territorial disputes throughout East Asia, especially between China, Japan, and Korea, were a big issue. In 2012, territorial disputes throughout East Asia, especially between China, Japan, and Korea, were a common problem. China resisted when its neighboring nations, empowered by rapid economic growth, began to exercise their voice in the international society. According to China, their dispute opposite nations, such as Vietnam and the Philippines, nearly do not have their territorial waters. In addition, Japan became embroiled with Korea, China, and Taiwan over the Dok-do, Senkaku, and Diaoyu Islands, respectively, causing constant diplomatic troubles, historical conflicts, and even trivial armed clashes. Lastly, the dispute between Palestine and Israel has persisted since World War II. Through a series of conflicts over the last several decades, Israel has taken possession of most Palestinian territory so many Palestinians have become refugees. As a result, the region has been subject to terrorism and bloody conflict at the hands of the Islamic resistance movement PLO (the Palestine Liberation Organization), and among others.

Often, the world market takes a direct hit as well, depending on the natural resources in the relevant territories. Therefore, it is in the best interest of foreign nations to help solve the dispute. To do so, it is important that nations not only consider their own political and economical interests, but also strive to achieve cooperative relations and peaceful solutions. When territorial disputes cannot be solved in a short amount of time, undertaking a joint study of history between the countries involved can be a good solution.
In order to win at the game of Monopoly, a player must take over all of his opponent’s land. Everyone knows that this is cruel and would never be admissible in real life. Yet the skewed logic of territorial disputes is just like this merciless Monopoly game. The real purpose of the board game consists in the players having a good time, not contending for victory at all costs. If no one pleased with the game, why do not the nations stop playing it?
